STRUCTURAL FOAM

What is structural foam?

To produce a sandwich material of predefined thickness, structural foam is used as the base material. Foams can have different finishes depending on the part being manufactured and the production method used: they can be perforated to enhance resin adhesion, grooved to facilitate resin flow, cut to specific required contours, or reinforced with a grid to increase structural strength.

Distribution of Structural Foam

A wide range of structural foam materials is currently used, selected based on specific project criteria: PVC foam, available in thicknesses ranging from 3 to 75 mm and densities from 40 to 250 kg/m³; polyethylene terephthalate (PET) foam, available in thicknesses from 3 to 60 mm and densities from 60 to 200 kg/m³; and polymethacrylimide (PMI) foam.
